O capitão e cinco membros da tripulação do cruzeiro grego Sea Diamond, que afundou na quinta-feira (5) no Mar Egeu, são acusados de negligência.
Um promotor da ilha grega de Naxos indiciou neste sábado os seis oficiais por violar as regras internacionais de segurança naval e poluir o meio ambiente. Eles responderão ao inquérito em liberdade.
As autoridades gregas tentam determinar como o cruzeiro se chocou com um recife perto da ilha de Santorini, em pleno dia e com condições meteorológicas favoráveis. Em depoimento, o capitão descartou uma falha mecânica e atribuiu o acidente à corrente marinha.
O navio viajava com 1.547 pessoas a bordo. A maior parte escapou ilesa, mas dois turistas franceses — Jean-Christophe Allain, 45, e sua filha Maud, 16 — estão desaparecidos.
Pai e filha viajavam em sua cabine quando o navio encalhou nos recifes nas imediações do litoral de Santorini, uma das ilhas mais visitadas do arquipélago de Ciclades, para afundar horas mais tarde.
A esposa do francês desaparecido, Anne Allain, 43, conseguiu sair da cabine cheia de água e foi resgatada, segundo informações do ministério do Turismo. Outro filho do casal, Raphael, de 14 anos, também sobreviveu.
Quatro navios da polícia portuária local e um avião da marinha de guerra continuam realizando buscas em torno do barco afundado, segundo a Marinha Mercante.
No total, 1.156 passageiros e 391 tripulantes se encontravam a bordo do Sea Diamond, que desde segunda-feira realizava um cruzeiro pelas ilhas gregas. Santorini era a última escala antes que o navio voltasse para o Pireu.
